In the beginning...

This is the first entry of this blog. The blog will be dedicated to the process of building a functional Mech. I expect this to take around twelve years to complete. This mech is going to be based off of the GOL-4S Goliath Battlemech from the mechwarrior and Battletech series of games and books. I intend to use hydraulics to make the mech walk. I will detail the designs and post pics and, if possible, video Chronicling The entire process, from sketching out the theory, to testing the system on a small scale, to building the full scale version and testing the mech's capabilities. If anyone has any questions about the project, please feel free to contact me at gray_death69@yahoo.com.

  1. I think the tricky part is going to be movement. Hydraulics I dont think will be fast enough for actual walking movement, least nothing over a few miles/hr.

  2. Ever ridden any of the bigger carnival rides? Hydraulics can indeed be quick. I have also been considering a similar pneumatic system, or even a fusion of both.

  3. Silly me, I thought this was going to be a playground set.

    Any progress as of yet?

  4. Oh, hey, I thought I should point out that I, Donteras, am Vinz. I used that name a long time ago when I was playing Astro Empires, shortly before I figured out that I can't play AE enough to be able to defend myself.
